A Ha'aretz poll has shown a surge of support for Labor leader and current defense minister Ehud Barak, which gives Tzipi Livni's Kadima party, which is in a coalition with Labor, a chance of not getting pummeled in next month's election. Barak has been responsible for dishing out the knuckle-sandwiches to Hamas in Gaza, and people think that's swell.
Livni, for her part, just insisted there was "no humanitarian crisis in the [Gaza] strip, and therefore no need for a humanitarian truce." White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe, which is also his porn name, refused to dispute this.
This is Israel's center-left.
